Graduate Opportunities
The HSI Initiatives Team is proud to partner with several units and departments across campus to strengthen our university’s capacity to provide culturally-affirming and academic support to all UCSC graduate students. Although some of these programs or services are housed outside of our office, they are all partially or fully supported by HSI grants or HSI administrative funding.

GANAS Graduate Services Counselor
The GANAS Graduate Services Counselor (GSC) serves as a one-stop center for first-generation and low-income graduate students to address non-academic challenges that impede transition and degree completion through 1:1 holistic counseling appointments. All students are welcome to make appointments.

Doctoral Summer Bridge Program
The GANAS Doctoral Summer Bridge Program aims to prepare incoming graduate students by providing a week-long program focused on best practices, campus resources, and student strategies to be utilized during their time with UCSC.

VOCES Graduate Student Writing Center
VOCES supports graduate students’ writing proficiency, sense of belonging, and degree completion. We specialize in supporting graduate students writing for seminars, qualifying exams, dissertation drafts, CVs, fellowship applications, proposals, and more.

Latinx Initiative for Future Teachers
The Latinx Teacher Initiative for Future Teachers (LIFT) Project provides selected Masters of Arts/Credenital (MA/C) students with financial support, mentorship, and enrichment events. In twelve months, LIFT Scholars earn both a Master of Arts in Education and a California preliminary teaching credential.
