Family Day

About the program

Once a year, UC Santa Cruz and San Jose City College host Family Day, an event welcoming students and their families to increase their college knowledge by taking a tour of the UCSC campus and learning how to better support their students who will transfer to the university. The day also explores financial aid, the transfer process, and potential career pathways.

All members of the family are encouraged to come, including moms, dads, and siblings for a fun and engaging day on campus! The day’s events are also bilingual friendly.

Goals

We recognize family can play a major role in the success of our students. Our annual family day provides information for the entire family about the importance of four year and graduate degrees, explores student demands within higher education settings and looks at ways to better support a student’s overall success.

Who’s eligible?

You may be eligible for our Family Day if you are:

• A San Jose City College student who plans to transfer to UC Santa Cruz

• Other requirements?

What you’ll experience

When you step onto UC Santa Cruz’s beautiful campus, you and your family will be surrounded by redwoods overlooking the ocean in a one-of-a-kind university setting.

During the family day you will :

• start the day with a breakfast and a welcome from a university keynote speaker

• learn about transfer tools and success at UC Santa Cruz

• discuss paying for college, financial aid, DREAMER/AB540 status and more

• enjoy complimentary lunch

• receive advice and encouragement from faculty, staff and fellow transfer students who are excited to help you on your academic journey
