Cultivamos Excelencia Research Scholars

The Cultivamos Excelencia project is a multi-year grant aimed at strengthening transfer pathways for students to UCSC and into research and graduate pathways. As a Hispanic-Serving Research Institution, UCSC seeks to create systemic change to improve and streamline these pathways and the lives of our local community college Latinx/Latine, first-generation, and low-income students.

In the third component of the grant, Cultivamos Excelencia seeks to expand graduate pathways for transfer students by offering paid research experience and mentoring support through the Research Scholars Program. Scholars will be matched with a UCSC faculty mentor based on the research project of their interest and will receive additional mentorship on research and graduate school pathways from a graduate student mentor. This year we are offering 12 paid research internships to eligible transfer students, please see the application for more details.

The program application is now closed. Applicants will receive an update once all applications have been reviewed.
